Purebread is based out of Whistler and they are about real ingredients - no preservatives, no artificial ingredients here. They are also an ardent supporter of farmer's markets, which is why they're here and it's fitting because they serve handmade organic baked goods. They have an assortment of breads ranging from lavender rosemary and honey to cranberry ginger raisin and all the way to four cheese. Yum. Some savory items include pudgie pies, spinach and feta brioche and sweet potato chili & cheese empanadas. But it's the pastries in the display case that have really caught my eye... After hemming and hawing over what to get for 15 minutes (and the cashier looking at me like I'm crazy for pacing back and forth), I finally decide on a few goodies...
Hello Pastries! My name is Ms. Piglet... please get into my tummy.
Lemon Chevre Brownies - $3
This has got to be THE richest brownie I've ever had. Holy cow! I think you could/should split one of these with a friend because it's so dense but also really really good. Who knew that lemon and goat cheese could be combined with a rich chocolate brownie?? And using chevre??? Genius. Just a thin layer of it is enough for a distinct lemon flavor that'll send you to Bliss Island. Seriously, you gotta try this. So good...
Almond Croissant - $3.50
It looks absolutely fantastic and I just love the crunchy almonds on top. However, after a few bites, it just feels really heavy and one note. There's just WAY too much butter in the centre (and you know it's a lot when I, high queen of the butter, say there's a lot). The croissant itself is delicious with lots of almond flavor and very light and flaky but that butter.... oof. Just... too... much...
Lavender Earl Grey Scone - $3
Um, HELLO! This is the most delicious and original scone I've ever had! Flecks of lavender throughout but you can still taste the light earl grey. And that drizzle on top?? It's not just icing, it's a super sharp citrus drizzle that just cuts through the scone's light tones. DELISH! The scone itself is light and flaky... this with a book and a cuppa tea on my deck on a sunny day would be PERFECT. I will never look at another scone the way I've looked at you...
Adults Only Cookie (Rosemary and Sea Salt) - $2.50
It's a delicious chocolate cookie but the rosemary is very faint if there at all - it's lost in the rich and very deep chocolate flavor, almost brownie-like, and the sea salt. Love the combination of sweet and salty. Why is it adults only? I have no idea. I guess if I had kids, I certainly wouldn't share this cookie with them. I honestly had no room to eat this cookie until the next day and I thought it was better that way - the cookie actually got softer! Yum! Absolutely delicious and the range of items are just amazing. I didn't have room to try their breads or more savory items so this Piglet will definitely be back to give it a shot. Plus I need another one of those lavender scones, STAT! An update to come! Bon appetite!
Pros:
- Delicious baked treats
- Wide range of goods and flavors - some very original creations!
- Moderate pricing
- Cash only
- Must wait for a Farmer's Market to get them unless you're up in Whistler

Ohh man I am so hungry now! I have to check out this farmer's market, I want to try out as many as I can this summer.
