Byways Cafe - Portland, Oregon

Byways Cafe - As seen on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives

I walk into this little cafe just off the busy epicenter of Portland and immediately think of Grandma. The walls are covered in plates, figurines, teacups, knick-knacks and license plates that your Grandma would never part with and it teeters on the eclectic side of decor, dangerously close to hoarder style. We've missed the breakfast (da*n it! I was really hoping to try the biscuits and gravy!) but thankfully lunch also looks delicious. I hang my fang into a Cobb sandwich while my fellow piglet decides on Pendleton Melt. My Cobb is a blue cheese fans' greatest dream as it is the sharpest I've ever tasted but melds really well with the avocado, bacon and lettuce. I think avocado and bacon should be served with EVERYTHING. The Pendleton Melt is a whole other level as my piglet is covered in sandwich juice and the whole thing disappears in mere minutes. Deelish! I'm coming back to try the biscuits and gravy next time but I'm definitely not disappointed with the available lunch menu.
