Bubble Queen is tucked away on the bottom floor in the Pacific Plaza located near the corner of Cambie and Garden City and it's a small place, not very many tables and if you walked by you'd think nothing of it. That is until you walk in, sit down and see the tons of take-out business they do because the bubble tea here is EXCELLENT! Case in point:
Ferrero Rocher with Pearls - $5.95
They take pieces of ferrero rocher, blend it into a drink and then top it with a ferrero rocher! You get that nice hazelnut chocolate taste and every so often, there's a little piece of cookie/chocolate to bite into. YUM! Other original flavors also include Ghirardelli, Lindor White Chocolate, Ramune, Aloe, Calpis... the list just goes on! WARNING: this place is not for diabetics - sugar is THE main ingredient.
Dates & Chrysanthemum Ginseng Tea - $4
For those looking for a warm soothing beverage on those rainy days, BQ has a great selection of milk teas convertible to warm drinks and more original drinks such as this. Slices of dates, the sweetness of chrysanthemum and a hint of ginger. This one was a bit too sweet so I would probably order it half sweet next time. Otherwise, a great drink and comparable to other bubble tea places. If I want a cold drink, I will definitely go for the fresh mango cubes slush - it's comes topped with fresh mango! You can't beat THAT on a hot day!
Looking for a snack? BQ also has a large variety of munchable items from thick toast to gyoza. The piggies were saw their large menu of bubble waffles and immediately went in for the kill.
Matcha and Peanut-flavored Bubble Waffles - $3 each
Mr. Piglet loved the peanut and I loved the matcha so it worked out well for the both of us! Crispy on the outside and light and chewy on the inside... reminds me of Hong Kong... *tear*. They also have many original flavors such as Oreo, dried shredded pork, strawberry white chocolate chip and loads more. When (not if!) the piggies come back, the Oreo WILL BE MINE.
