Feeling completely bloated from our dinner we had no intentions here except to walk our meal off but the food called to us... and we had to answer.
Mango Yummy
I've walked by this stand so many times and every single time I've been too full to get something but tonight is the night. Tonight is the night I'm going to get that fresh mango bowl that has been calling to me every weekend.
Fresh Mango Sago Pomelo - $5
Ok, so it turns out I actually am too full to get something but Monkey's thirsty so he decided on this little gem. The drink is as named - it's got fresh mango, sago pearls (small tapioca balls) and pomelo (citrus fruit like a giant grapefruit). It's super refreshing, even for a colder night and although we're both super full, we both enjoy it thoroughly. Everything does taste as fresh as they claim and there's something about the pomelo that gives it that nice bite of tartness to the sweet of the mango. On a warm sunny summer day, this is what I'll be craving. So I guess I'll have to come here every weekend in July and August...
Hong Kong Egg Puffs
There are these awesome waffle stands in HK so I, being the waffle snob, have not had these little morsels until something caught my eye today... They have cheesecake flavor??!!?? Qu'est que c'est??? I must have it!
Cheesecake Bubble Waffle - $4
Crispy on the outside and moist but relatively hollow on the inside. The taste of cheesecake is there but albeit a bit faint. The more you eat however, the more you'll taste it. Is that their ploy to get you to buy more? It's good but I think it would be over the top if each bubble had a little mini cube of cheesecake inside... but I'm a dreamer. That would only happen in Hong Kong where they have tiny cubes of taro or chocolate inside their bubble waffles. Oh, and this order came with a stamp card redeemable at their other two locations (Richmond Night Market and Aberdeen Mall).
Totoro Bubble Tea
I'm thirsty now that I've had my little waffle treat. Monkey's still sucking on his delicious little drink so I decide that since I can't have my mango dessert, I'm going in for some mango bubble tea. I've seen their storefront on Alexandra Road in Richmond before but have never gone in so this Piglet thought it'd be a great opportunity to try their bb teas without having to sit down.
Mango Slush - $4.99
Pretty large cup... to be honest, this thing was filled to the top but my throat was so parched I drank some before I took the photo. Sorry guys! It's not bad. The slush is pretty well blended so there aren't a lot of big chunks. I just wish it were made of real mango instead of the syrup... at least it's not the powdered stuff. Blech. Oh bejesus, if we keep eating at this rate, Monkey and I will be obese before the summer is over. We need to simmer down and take it easy... Ok, who're we kidding??!?? See you next week at the night markets!
