La Brasserie is a German-French joint where Michael and Stephen Wiese serve up comfort food from both worlds. There's not much to this truck - just one sandwich to rule them all.
Brass Chicken Sandwich - $7.15
Beer brined rotisserie chicken in gravy, on a buttermilk bun, topped with crispy onions
I love every word of that description, every word is agreeable. You know what else is agreeable? This one sandwich that rules them all. Super moist chicken, savoury creamy gravy, soft bun and super crunchy fried onions. Oh that gravy... absolutely amazing and when you get some of the onions in a bite too, oh man... so good... Mr. Piglet would've finished the whole thing off if I hadn't intervened. Mr and I are the opposite of Lady and the Tramp - one day someone's gonna spot us like two feral wolves with a sandwich between our teeth, battling it out for sandwich supremacy. Mr. Penguin was right about the gravy and onions. I will never doubt you Mr. Penguin. I also tried it with the mustard found I could live without it since the gravy and onions were drowned out a bit but some people like the mustard so it's up to you!
Best Butter Tart - $1.79
I'm not into this at all but since Mr. Piglet is really English (sometimes) and dove right into this tart. Sweet but not too much and a thick crust that's more like a shortbread cookie than a flaky pie crust. Two bites and fini! That tart stood no chance... I thought it was a bit boring for my tastes but that's butter tarts in general - this is good for what it is.We will be back for that chicken sandwich and in fact, I think we're going to hit it up this weekend. Just thinking about it is making me drool... *drool* Bon appetite!
Pros:
- Easy choice to make - 1 sandwich, that's it and take it or leave it
- Delicious sandwich and tart
- Cash only
- Messy line-up system - line-up on one side to pay and then you have to get in line again to receive your sandwich and it got pretty messy/confusing
- Only 1 item on the menu - serve some of the other delicious dishes from the restaurant dinner menu!!!
