Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies

Disclaimer: I did not invent this recipe.  I was moseying through the aisles of Trader Joe's when I spotted some Whole Wheat Flour and decided that maybe I could use it in replacement of white flour for some recipes.  While I was packing it away, I noticed there was a recipe for Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies and this is that recipe.  I brought a swack of these bad boys to the office and they were gone in several minutes - no one even knew they were whole wheat nor did they care because these were super tasty cookies!  Enjoy!
Tools needed:
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Electric mixer or large bowl with handheld mixer
  • Cookie sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicon baking sheet
  • Medium bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spatula

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup cane sugar
  • 1 cup butter, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

2.  Whisk together flour, salt and baking soda in a large bowl and set aside.
3.  In an electric mixer or large bowl with mixer, cream together brown sugar, cane sugar, butter and vanilla.  Add eggs and beat for 2-3 more minutes.

4.  Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix together with a spatula until there is no flour mixture left.

5.  Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.

6.  Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets.

7.  Bake 8-12 minutes or until the edges of the cookies are browned.

8.  Eat and enjoy!
