Blueplate Diner
Yet another diner I wanted to visit on recommendation from Guy Fieri in my quest to fatdom. We entered on a quiet Friday evening and were greeted by a nice punky girl. After being told to seat ourselves we managed to corral a table away from the small unisex bathroom. Disappointingly small menu with an even larger drink menu - odd. We finally decided on a Karl Marx soda (lemonade mixed with iced tea) and an "American in Paris" (basically a turkey club) and the Northwest Sliders (mini cheeseburgers). We waited, and waited, and waited, and waited.... the chef is doing dishes - where is our food? The server had lost our order! After several minutes, two plates of food are rushed to the table with the chef/owner apologizing and offering our meal on the house. Nice. Our meals were served with mashed potatoes (weird. They're good but weird) and nothing is really hitting the spot until I bite into my slider - it's served with a basil spread that I'd never thought to put on a burger but man oh man is this good! Basil + Mayo = heavenly condiment. Guy, you almost let me down. Almost. I knew I PVRed/TIVOd your show for a reason.
