Arleta Library Bakery Cafe - Portland, Oregon

Arleta Library Bakery Cafe

So we had an extra mealtime in Portland and I thought, "Hey, why not try to hit another tripe D location for fun?" and again, Guy, you are a wonderful man. This place stresses local sustainable food and it shows in the homemade ketchup and homemade jam with chunks of strawberries. It boasts Portland's Best Biscuits-N-Gravy and sure enough, it delivered on its word. Nugget sized pieces of sausage in a creamy gravy over fresh baked biscuits and I can't believe this meal can get even better but it does. The Portlander omelet(mushrooms with tillamook cheese) is great but the scone that came with it is TO DIE FOR! Light and airy on the inside but nice and crunchy on the outside and when it's paired with that homemade jam, you wanna just climb inside the scone and live in it. People, I know it's just a scone but the folks at Arleta have perfected it. Ever try doing anything perfectly? It's hard but they've done it. Now imagine that this perfect scone has a partner in homestyle fries with homemade (and I stress HOMEMADE) ketchup. It just can't get any better than this for brunch. Go to Arleta's, have a wonderful omelet, swim in some gravy, live in a scone and thank me for it later.
