Roaming Dragon - Vancouver, BC
As you all know, I am OBSESSED with food and all things food related. So when the Food Network launched their new show, Eat St., I was ALL OVER that shizznit. To my delight, for once, this show actually featured eateries that are actually nearby! The first episode featured this little red gem called the Roaming Dragon, the face of Vancouver's mobile food revolution! Good bye street dogs, hello pan asian cuisine! To be honest, I didn't think I could ever track this cart down since it only operates in the daytime in Downtown Vancouver (woe to us that must have a 9-5 job outside of the downtown core) but these little piggies had a day off and when these little piggies saw this truck on the side of the road, they had to pull over!
So what was on the menu?
And what did we have? Mr truck man recommended the fried rice balls and we decided on the beef short rib taco and Chinese pork slider. Verdict? Chinese steamed bun with braised pork and pickled cucumbers? Good. Deep fried sticky rice with Chinese sausage and curry sauce? GOOD. Beef Short Rib Taco? $%$#@@#!! GOOD. It just kept getting better and better. I washed the meal down with a nice lychee lemonade he also recommended. Yum!
In true piglet fashion, as soon as the first portion of food was devoured, we had to go for seconds. Obesity, here we come! Round 2 featured the return of the taco, a RD take on the Banh Mi and the wild card being the brussel sprout salad. Of course the taco was good but the surprising fight of the night goes to the brussel sprout salad and I HATE brussel sprouts! Lime peanut vinaigrette with what looked like roasted or fried brussel sprouts was just simply delicious! My stomach growls as I think of this meal... If you ever see this truck, pull over. It doesn't matter if you cause an accident, hit a another car or maybe maim a cyclist - it was their fault for getting in the way of this delicious food going into your mouth.
