Elements Urban Tapas Parlour - Whistler, BC
Generally, during the holiday season, everything slows down but not us piglets - we're hungry! And this month, the piglets head north to Whistler to fill our tummies. So where does one go to fill up before a long day of boarding? There's a small cafe located in the Summit Lodge that opened in 2005 that the locals have been raving about and a mama duck in my office said we had to go visit and that we did. The verdict? Oh mama!
First thing, get there early or you're waiting and waiting for a LOOOOONG time. Showed up on a Sunday afternoon at 1 once and was told to wait an hour and a half. *tear* Ok, let's talk of happier times. And those happier times look like this:
My piglet partner always swears that he'll try something different but every single time, he goes back to this sweet and savory devil. This evil temptress is known as the Honey Ham and Brie Stuffed French Toast. Oh be still my angina filled heart!
I've had several items from their menu but it's their frittatas that I hold dear to my heart. Here I enjoyed the Chorizo, Tomatoes, Red Onion and Pepper Jack Cheese Frittata and it's good but its the other little things it comes with that makes the dishes here at Elements complete. Every dish comes with a shot glass filled with a mixture of juices to cleanse the palate before the meal. There's also a delicious potato tartlet covered in a dollop of sour cream, a nice alternative to the hashbrowns most breakfasts come with. I also had the choice between multigrain toast, english muffin, bagel or croissant and I thought I was being so smart in having the toast, to be healthy of course. Ha! I immediately regretted my decision when food showed up for a fellow diner beside me with a nice warm buttery croissant on their plate. Oh how I hate my life... And then I dug into my breakfast and loved my life again. Oink Oink!
Pros:
Great food
Reasonable price
Stuffed French Toast
Cons:
Long waits
Spotty service
Small establishment
