Stanley's - Delta, BC

Stanley's - Delta, BC

My trip through Southeast Asia continues with a stop in Delta??? I know, what the hell am I doing here? Well, my little piglet sister said this is the only place she'll go for Pho, a Vietnamese noodle with assorted meats, and that was enough for me! We live in a city full of Vietnamese restaurants so this should be good. Located in a strip mall in the middle of North Delta and tucked away into the corner, the normal foodie would walk right by but we little piggies were on a mission so in we walked. What did we find?? A packed hole-in-the-wall mom and pops run dive! YAHTZEE! Not long after do we sit down that every table is packed and a line up starts in the doorway. This is gonna be good....

Pho with rare beef and beef balls - The broth is rich and the beef is nice and thin so the soup cooks it just perfectly. I'd say it was in my top 5 bowls of Pho I've ever had and I've been to Vietnam. The perfect antidote to the Saturday morning hangover. Phoshizzle my nizzle.

The highlight though is this monstrosity called the Pork Brochette with spring rolls and salad roll. The pork is perfectly marinated, super tender and it has those nice crispy edges that grilling gives. *DROOL* Salad roll? Shrimp, pork, lettuce and peanut dip - nothing wrong with that! Spring rolls? S-O G-O-O-D. Full of marinated pork and deep fried to perfect crispiness - all thrilla no filla. I'm serious, there is no single piece of vegetable in these spring rolls - not a piece of cabbage, carrot or even noodle - it's all meat. Pork, pork and more pork! A piglet's dream come true... Christmas came early. And how does this gift keep giving? Leftovers!!! The portions are just so ginormous, we had enough for dinner. SWEET!

Vietnamese Coffee - if you ever do go to any Vietnamese restaurant and you like coffee, do give this a try. They slow drip it through grinds into a glass with sweetened condensed milk and then stirred with ice.
