Let's start the day by going to an antique car parade! Since this is the week of the Feria De Las Flores in Medellin, the week is full of assorted celebrations and parades and this is a local favourite, especially if you're a car aficionado.
The street is absolutely jam-packed with people on both sides and even on the street itself... Complete organized chaos...
First comes a billion advertising cars, buses and trucks, including mini versions... If it can drive, they'll glue on an ad and drive it down this road. Some ads even had pretty buxom ladies on board. HELLO LADIES... Ad vehicles lasted about an hour and a half. All the while, men and women holding various containers and makeshift bins march up down the street hawking everything from fruit to gum to beer (oh, you can drink anywhere in public BTW - awesome).
Then came the cars, trickling slowly with large 15-30 minute gaps between some. We later find out that many of these antique cars had trouble starting and people were just generally late. Fords, Willy's, Chevy's and even military vehicles made there way out... And 2 hours later...
The rain started pouring so it was either we tried to create shelter from fronds on the street or run into the nearby mall. The mall won. After an hour of torrential downpour, it completely clears up and it's sunny again. Gotta love this tropical weather... Where to next??

This antique car parade is evidently a successful event. The crowd said it all. Well, the cars that were involved in the show were all very fascinating, and I believe after seeing these cars, all the long wait, exhaustion, and enduring the heat become worth it.

Yeah, it was very different from anything I've ever seen before and yes, the crowds were massive! The heat was worth it. Too bad it started raining near the end and the whole street cleared out!
DeleteWell, car shows like this always present gorgeous cars that will really leave people in awe. Every time I attend a car show, it’s really hard for me to decide which the best is among all. Haha! Every single car out there is just awesome!
ReplyDeleteI can see from the photo that the rain didn’t stop you from enjoying the parade. =D Hehehe… I can’t blame you, seeing those fascinating antique cars. I am sure those people, including you, cannot wait for another car parade this year – rain or shine! ^_~
