The Chairman - San Francisco, CA

So where does one go to eat after a long day of walking?  Well, I don't know.  We're not from around here!  I remember watching a tv show, which one I can't remember, about a band of roaming food trucks in the SF Bay Area called Off the Grid Food Trucks.  A quick google and cross reference with Twitter and we find out they'll rolling out tonight!  YES!  Off we go!
It's raining but we don't care - we're only here for 4 days so we have to make the best of it!  There's only a handful of trucks.  Sad.  Most of the seating is wet.  Sad.  The only good part is that the rain has chased away most of the other customers so no lines for us!  We spy a giant red truck with the only dry seating area - that's our goal!  I remember seeing this truck on the show Eat St - the buns looked so good!  I can't wait!

Coca Cola Braised Pork with Savoy Cabbage & Preserved Yellow Mustard Seeds with Steamed Bun - $3.75
The pork is so juicy and flavorful!  I usually don't like mayo but this bun came with a sweet and savory mayo sauce that was really nice.  I like the vinegary cabbage that gives great balance to the pork and the bite that that the mustard seeds also gives this bun.  Mr. Piglet consumed this in under 3 seconds flat.  He could eat another 3 of these but I stop him.  We have another bun to try!

Spicy Chicken with Toasted Sesame Puree Pickled Carrots-Cucumber & Cilantro with Baked Bun - $6.00
The spicy chicken is actually spicy!  Tender and moist chicken with great heat behind it and some nice charred bits to give it a crunchy texture and taste while not being dry.  The bun is soft and buttery on the inside with crunch from the grilling on the inside and outside.  The pickled carrots added to the spiciness but they were cold and also refreshing.  Oh so good...  Everything has been so good, Mr and I decide to get another bun!

Tender Pork Belly with Tumeric Pickled Daikon and Green Shiso with Steamed Bun - $3.75
OMG the pork belly is SUPER TENDER!  Usually pork belly that that layer of fat that I like to pick out but this was not at all fatty.  There was also some nice burnt end parts to balance out the tender moist middle parts - I LOVE this!  The pickled daikon also has a really nice combination of flavours - sweet, tart and vinegary, it reminds me of the pickled vegetables my mom makes, and it balances out the fattiness of the pork.  This was also housed in a white pillowy soft bun.  Super awesome.

Now THIS IS GREAT TRUCK FOOD!  Everything we had was wonderful and despite it being rainy, these little buns of delight brought us some sunshine aka happiness.  Thank you San Francisco for The Chairman!  Long live The Chairman!  I salute you!  Bon appetite!
