Winter Farmer's Market - Vancouver, BC

Most of the farmer's markets are closed for the season - weather gets cold and wet and there's less and less in season.  I check through the Vancouver Farmers Market website and find out that there's a Winter Farmers Market open on Saturdays so I drag Mr. Piglet out to take a look.
It is a BEEYUTEEFUL day in the Lower Mainland - cold but sunny day without a cloud in sight.  What a perfect day to walk through the stalls of this market.  I always thought there were only potatoes available in the Fall/Winter season but I was wrong - there's apples, broccoli, greens and so much more!  So glad I brought cash because I'm ready to buy up a storm!  I think everyone else has the same idea because it is packed in here!
What beautiful greens and beets available...  I pick up some beautiful rainbow swiss chard, purple kale and yellow beets - not sure what I'll make but I'm definitely excited to use these wonderful ingredients.
Do you see those sprouts???  Purple cauliflower!  I have never seen such beautiful produce!  Hm, I remember eating a wonderful salad in San Francisco with purple cauliflower so as soon as I can find a great recipe, I'm coming back and getting one of these babies.
So many vendors...  I walk through the aisle and then realize it continues on to the right!  Holy cow!  This is a massive farmer's market!  So many more stalls...
Of course there's entertainment as well.  How do they keep their windpipes warm in this weather???
A few food and coffee trucks too.  A green chai tea for me please.  I'm not thirsty but just need something to keep my hands warm.  The sun is out but is DAYUM cold out!  Mr. Piglet and I also visit two of the food trucks onsite - Le Tigre Cuisine and Pig on the Street.
Thank you Nat Bailey Stadium for having a lot large enough to hold all of these wonderful vendors.  I know where I'm going to drag Mr. Piglet next weekend!  Happy shopping and bon appetite!
