Nha Hang Ngon
Recommended to us by our fantastic tour guide, Kate Hoang, this was definitely one of the best meals we had in Vietnam. The only downside was that it was packed full of tourists and maybe a little more commercialized/touristy than I would have liked but the food... ah, the food was just phenomenal. So good that we made a point to go for a second visit before we left HCMC. Grilled squid with a salt/lime/chili pepper dip, spring rolls, grilled beef and papaya salad were some of the goodies we tried and IT WAS ALL GOOD. Pair that with a cold fresh coconut and you'll instantly forget that you're marinating in 35 degree heat. I love you Mommy and your spring rolls are amazing but these were MIND BLOWING. Sorry Mommy :( There is an open kitchen concept on the west side of the restaurant and it's just comforting to know that your food is being prepared with care and concern. I love to eat off the beaten path but this place just can't be missed. You might have to bite your tongue as someone at the table next to you asks what Pho is but, remember, punching a tourist will prevent you from having some of the best food Saigon has to offer. Thank you Ngon for your fantastic food and ruining every Vietnamese meal since then.
And if you don't want a nice meal, you can always come in and order some cigarettes.
