Scoop! - Vancouver, BC

One of my little Piggie readers recommended this place after I posted about Sushi Bella.  Since I had one more Sushi Bella coupon to use, we decided to go across the street and give this place a try.  It's a hot day and if there's cold frozen yogurt to be had, why not??
Cute little place with some seating in the front and a back room which is a little bit cosier.  There's a bunch of toppings on the counter in the front from cookies, chocolate bars, coconut, various fruits to mochi and chocolate fudge.  How does this place work???  You pick the frozen yogurt flavor you want, they blend it up and hand it to you and then you pack on whatever toppings you want and then they charge you by according to the weight of your toppings.  I know right away that this will be a problem for Mr. Piglet...  Gotta keep an eye out on him...
Earl Grey Yogurt with various toppings
When I say "various", that's an understatement.  He added coconut, Butterfingers, brownies, Reese's Pieces, Maltesers and hot fudge.  I think it was overkill and for once, Mr. Piglet agrees.  The Earl Grey frozen yogurt on the other hand was absolutely excellent - full of tea flavor, super smooth and with the right toppings, it would be perfect.  The only downfall of this yogurt was that it melted incredibly fast, just a soup of frozen yogurt within a few minutes.

Matcha Green Tea Yogurt with various toppings
I went with a fruit theme - lychee, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and mango.  Mr. Piglet liked my combination of toppings better (well, DUH!  Just kidding!) but I liked his frozen yogurt flavor better.  The green tea was good but it was a bit light on taste - the yogurt itself is already a bit strong so you need the flavorings to really stand out but unfortunately I don't think there was enough matcha added to give it that nice strong matcha taste.  Good but it could have been absolutely great.  For some reason it seemed like mine held up better than Mr. Piglet's yogurt - maybe it was the addition of the hot fudge?  But there was so little of it....  We'll never know...

I don't know what each bowl cost because they just take it, weigh it and just tell you the price.  Our total came to $9.82 for two smalls.  Yeesh...  Very tasty but also a bit on the pricier side - we would come back again if we were in the neighborhood but we couldn't afford to make it a ritual.  Watch what you add to your treat and you won't break the bank.  Bon appetite!

Pros:
  • Healthier dessert alternative
  • Tasty - earl grey was VERY earl grey flavored
  • Customizable to your own tastes - toppings to your taste!
  • Friendly service
Cons:
  • Can get very pricey - watch what you add because it's by weight!
  • Toppings are offered in small itsy bowls so there isn't a lot of choice when youve chosen a particular topping or toppings run out quickly

  1. If you haven't tried already and you like frozen yogurt, what about Menchii's or Qoola? Those are my personal favourites, although I lean towards Qoola more.

    1. I remember going to Qoola way back when it was still open on the ground floor of Aberdeen Mall in Richmond and I thought it was pretty tasty. Time for a revisit perhaps?

I've seen tons of instagram photos of the froyo at Menchi's and apparently they have a "to die for" banana bread flavour that I've got my eye on!

      Thanks for the reminders!
