Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market - San Francisco, CA

Mr and I were supposed to take a bike tour this morning but reception at our hotel told us that a farmer's market was happening outside the Ferry Building Marketplace (which, btw, is a beautiful building) along the Embarcadero this morning.  We weren't able to catch the larger market happening on Saturday morning so we had to come this morning.  A quick rescheduling of the tour and we walked our way over.
The weather is beautiful and the Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market is in full swing by the time we arrive mid morning.  To the left is the produce and to the right is all of the food stalls.  Funny how there seems to be more food stalls than produce stands.  Oh well.
We don't have a kitchen in our room anyways so Mr and I sat down and tried some of the local food trucks/stands.  Nothing like sitting at plastic tables and benches and watching the traffic and people roll by...
After our meal we decide to check out some of the local produce stands - might as well since our bellies were full and we needed the walk anyways.
There is some gorgeous produce here!  And flowers too!  Oh California how I envy your warm weather that extends the growing season here!
There's also another food truck hidden at the end, Roli Roti, carving up some righteous pork sandwiches.  We've already eaten but decide to have a second lunch.  Yum!
"Would you like to try a strawberry?"  Uh, I guess so.  Why not?
Ok, these are the sweetest most delicious strawberries I have EVER HAD.  Mr and I were stunned!  Sweet but not too much, firm and had the most robust strawberry flavour!  We were so impressed we ended up buying a basket to eat with lunch later.  Yes, they were that good.

If you get the chance, definitely try to check out this market.  If you're a local, why are you not here?  Some of the best produce is at your front door and you need to take advantage!  We would if we could!  If you're not a local, there's great eats to be found and seems like something that's off the beaten track since there were next to none tourists here.  So if you want an experience not in your guidebook, come to the Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market, pick up a meal and eat it on the pier and then continue on your travels to the more touristy spots if you like - you won't find a better meal with view.  Bon appetite!
